Parrita
The town of Parrita is located just South of Jaco and North of Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Just a couple of years back, this was a little sleepy town. A town created to accommodate the surrounding farming communities. It would be one of those towns that one would drive through to get to a destination.
Today Parrita is a center of focus. With real estate in Jaco and Quepos/ Manuel Antonio being overdeveloped and priced comparable to the some of the most expensive areas in the USA, the surrounding areas of Parrita are becoming very attractive.
Parrita still maintains the charm of a small town. It still is one of those locations like the old TV show Cheers, where every body knows your name. Where business deals take place in the small restaurant early in the morning. The farmers market still takes place on Fridays. One sees the local kids walking down the street, heading off to the local schools in their clean uniforms.
The town has a couple of banks. Parrita is home to 2 large grocery stores, several hotels, some small, and some mid size. Several hardware stores are located in the town, which service the ever growing building community. Countless little shops border the main street, from pharmacies, bakeries, dresses, shoes and knick knacks.
One of the best features of the town is the many small eateries. All boast the best food in town, and their food is good. And the restaurant food prices have not yet been influenced by the tourist.
If one can afford the price and if the fast pace of Jaco and Quepos/ Manuel Antonio is what you are looking for, then this community is definitely not for you.
However, if you are looking for the Pura Vida life style, you just might have found your spot.
